James C. Forsyth

Judge

Centurion, 1852–unknown

Full Name James Christie Forsyth

Born 16 March 1819 in Newburgh, New York

Died 2 December 1855 in Hereford, Herefordshire, England

Buried Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston, New York

Proposed by George Magrath

Elected 7 July 1852 at age thirty-three

Archivist’s Note: Later assumed the name “E. R. Rashleigh.” Brother of John Forsyth. There is a possibility that he did not join the club despite documentation of his election, as his name does not appear in any subsequent printed rosters of membership. He may have chosen not to “qualify” for membership (i.e., pay initiation fees). The Century Association has traditionally recognized such cases as former members, however, as rosters were not published annually and it is possible he joined between printings.
