Edmund Niles Huyck was more than a highly successful manufacturer. He was active in education and medical research, head of the governing board of Union College and Albany Medical College, and a useful participant in the war work as one of the “dollar-a-day men” on the War Industries Board. His work on the Housing Commission and the board of compensation insurance rounded out his unselfish public service. At all times, he was deeply interested in the educational development of Albany and the improvement of the water front.
