Archivist’s Note: His election is nowhere recorded, although a receipt for initiation fees paid in March 1847 is in the Century Association archives. It is likely that he was on the original invitation list, which did not require a formal admissions process, and that he could be considered one of the club founders. The only appearance of his name in an extant printed membership roster is in 1851; as of the next roster, in 1854, his name no longer appears. Father of Daniel Carter Beard.
