Century Memorial

Of James Craig Nicoll it could be said, as of few other American painters, that his was a Knickerbocker family dating back to the early days of the Seventeenth Century. Painting mostly marines and occasionally landscapes, but with a fine touch in etching also, he was an energetic promoter of the interests of his art; serving as president of the American Water Color Society and of the Artists’ Aid, whose power for good was largely a result of his personal efforts.
