Century Memorial

Leonard Eckstein Opdycke was a man of culture, and devoted to philanthropic work. Although he was a lawyer with a considerable practice, we think of him rather as busied with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Association for Improving the Condition of the Poor, for both of which charities he worked untiringly. The author of Tales from the Ægean, he also made an excellent translation of The Book of the Courtier, which he published in a beautiful edition.
