To those who knew him intimately, the personality of Henry Parton was most engaging. An artist of rare capacity and in his later years of recognized professional success, he enjoyed life thoroughly, surrounding himself with friends. As a painter he belonged to the conservative school; nevertheless, while severely exacting in judgment of his own productions, Parton was always generous in appreciation of the work of others. Among his friends, his companionship was welcome for his keen sense of humor, his fund of anecdote, and the love of music that supplemented his interest in art.
