Century Memorial

William Edward Bond was a member of The Century for fourteen years when he died at the age of fifty-eight [sic: fifty-seven]. A man of mark in the higher walks of business life, his education at Lehigh and his tastes induced in him activities of great importance to the community. He was earnest in the furtherance of art, of science, of education, and of phi[l]anthropic effort. An amateur in the special interests of this Association, and worthy of its membership, he was likewise one of a type too rare among New Yorkers, a professional citizen, caring for and cherishing the best interest of his native city.
