Century Memorial

Lawranson [sic: Lawrason] Brown has been called a pioneer in modern treatment of tuberculosis. In his chosen field he was both a tireless research worker and a practical administrator. During twelve years he was head of the medical department of Dr. Trudeau’s Saranac Sanatorium. Trudeau himself once wrote of Dr. Brown that the institution’s “efficient rule of discipline,” its thorough instruction, not only of nurses but of patients, its “exhaustive post-discharge records of all patients,” and its laboratory work, “all sprang into life as a result of Dr. Brown’s consistent efforts.”
