John Adriance Bush was born at Rye, New York, in 1850, of Dutch descent, and was educated at Columbia College and Law School. He was prominent in practice connected with industrial corporations, was for ten years the representative of the City of New York in the management of the Brooklyn Bridge, and was active in the scheme of bridging the Hudson between Fort Washington and Fort Lee. Later he devoted himself to bankruptcy law, and published a work on the Act of 1898, which is recognized in the profession as authoritative. He was an ardent lover of out-door sports. His club connections were numerous and varied, including nearly all the more important in the city.
