Century Memorial

Hobart Chatfield Chatfield-Taylor. [Born] 1865. Author.

Student of history, lover of the humanities, at home in many languages, he lived a long life giving joy to all who had the good fortune to know him. A tall, distinguished gentleman, touched with grace, he travelled widely making himself persona grata in many lands. Decorated by five governments, he became, without realizing it himself, an unofficial ambassador, making by his modesty and charm of mind countless friends for his country. This was Major Pendennis in the life.
