Century Memorial

Charles A. Davison was well and honorably known to the older generation of lawyers as a distinguished member of the bar, and partner in the firm of Burrill, Davison & Burrill, for many years one of the most prominent in this city.

He was a graduate of Williams College in the class of 1845, and spent the whole of his professional life in this city, actively engaged in a large practice, and distinguished for his sagacity, ability and perfect integrity through his whole career.

He was a trustee in the Greenwich Savings Bank, a member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Historical, Geographical and Natural History societies, and notable as a good public-spirited citizen. In 1881 he retired from active professional life, since which time he has lived in a retirement enforced by ill health; but to all who knew him he has left the memory of an honorable lawyer and a high-minded gentleman.
