Century Memorial

Like Crowninshield, David Maitland Armstrong will be remembered for the delicacy of his work in stained glass and mural painting. Commissioner of Fine Arts for the United States at the Paris Exposition of 1878, and wearing the Legion of Honor for his services, he was closely identified with our own Academy of Design, Architectural League, and Society of Mural Painters. With his Century associates it is his kindly and genial character, his ever-present friendliness, and his gentleness of manner and conversation, which will mark him in remembrance.
