Century Memorial

Frank Wayland Fellowes, the last of his family, which was a notable one in this city fifty years ago, was a graduate of Yale University in the class of 1853, which has given so many men of distinction to the country, and was himself a prominent member of that group, both as a student and as a sportsman. Having an ample fortune, he was able to pursue his studies in belles lettres and in art, to which his inclinations led him; and he spent many years abroad, in Paris, Rome and Munich, under the best masters, and acquired an artistic skill which, had his necessities required, would have brought him before the public and given him an enviable reputation. As it was, he lived the life of a gentleman of leisure, in sympathy with all that was progressive and elevating in the world, and in the enjoyment of the respect and regard of all about him.
